Big Chill Festival

Last weekend I went to The Big Chill Festival, as a member of staff. It was the first time I went to that festival, in fact my first time at any festival.

As my first experience at a festival, The Big Chill was amazing! Never could I have imagined there to be such a relaxed atmosphere at a festival, even when the acts were on, people were just sitting and watching, there was no pushing or crowd surfing, just an amazing relaxed atmosphere. The festival was kitted out with some of the most random things such as giant roses, a massive rubber duck in the lake and double beds just sitting in the field, it seriously was the big chill.

Over the past few years the 'festival look' has come around with wellies being a necessity. With an array of ages at the festival, it felt like a real family event. There was a lot of young people there, who seemed to be trying to fit the 'festival look' way too much, but with all the articles on websites, blogs and magazines about how to get the 'festival look' its only expected. As I was working I had the uniform of all black, however we still fit the look with our colourful wellies.

Lily Allen being one of those people that have helped define the 'festival look' was the headliner on the final night of the festival, and I have to say, she was amazing! Her appearance came just after the announcement that she is pregnant and there had been a lot of speculation that she was going to cancel, however she did show up and put on an amazing show!

Lily being a person that is known for her fashion choices such as dresses with trainers and tracksuits, come on stage sporting the "lumberjack" look as she called it, wearing flats, black jeans and a checked shirt, she put her outfit choice down to the fact that she was pregnant. Despite her slouchy look, she looked like she was glowing from the recent news of her pregnancy.

Over all it was an amazing weekend, I saw some brilliant acts such as Lily Allen and Kelis, and will most definitely be going back there next year, hopefully working with the press there, but if not ill be back behind the bar or potentially a festival goer.

Too much, too soon?

Recently i saw this online:

This is the Selfridges window display in Manchester. This display features a hangman style structure, with an Alexander McQueen coat hanging at the end of it. This display come just weeks after McQueen committed suicide, it's bit too soon in my opinion for VM like this. I can only assume that the Visual merchandiser who did this has been given a good telling off.
